Description

Why buy an expensive headset just for your office phone? Use the Headset Buddy Adapter and your existing computer headset with phones that have a handset or headset jack. A big productivity enhancer for home businesses, call centers, sales people,or anyone who is on the phone all the time, but doesn't want to buy two headsets, one for the computer, and one for the phone.

Specs: This amazing adaptor converts the standard headset 3.5mm mic/audio plugs to a standard RJ9, RJ10, or RJ22 4P4C handset plug, allowing you to use your favorite computer/laptop headset with your office phone. This adapter is designed for use with headsets that have two 3.5 mm. plugs; one for the microphone and one for the headphones/earpiece(s). The adapter outputs binaural sound for stereo headsets, meaning you will hear sound out of both ears. The adapter cable is approximately five inches long.

Does not work with RJ11 jack, which is wider than your handset or headset jack (6 positions vs. 4). RJ11 jack is what is in the wall. RJ9, RJ10, RJ22 are what is on your phone handset or headset.

Does not work with Cisco based phones, please see other Headset Buddy model 01-PC35-RJ9Cisco.

Does not work with Aastra or Avaya phones, please see other Headset Buddy model 01-PC35-RJ9A.

2Headphone output works, Mic doesn't  Sep 15, 2011 By Rick Johnson
Tried this on my headset with my Samsung Prostar 815 phone.

I can hear but the mic is not picking up anything. The person on the otherside cannot hear.

I have tested my headset and use it daily on my PC so I know it is working and not the problem.

Spoke with headsetbuddy and they said I have to try a different cable but since I bought it from amazon they can't switch it out. It turns out headsetbuddy sells directly with a different vendor name on Amazon. What is ironic is they dont even offer the other one they said I needed the "-A" part number on Amazon.

They need to do better with descriptions or telling buyers how to tell which of the 3 different adapters they offer that is needed for which phone or how to test and find out. I mean this is a simple 4 wire cable and they are selling for over $15!

So if you need something just to hear and dont need the voice option I guess this is a good item. But otherwise, I would recommend checking with the mfg before which type you need or how to test and find out.

Good idea product but needs more guidance on what it works with.

3Works for what I need.  Jul 19, 2010 By A. Fowler
I purchased this to allow me to use a headset at work. As I listen in on WebExs, this was the best choice for hands free.

The reason I give it a 3-star rating, is that I am uncertain if the mic connector in the adapter is hooked up properly. Using a Logitech headset with built-in volume and mic control, my co-worker can barely hear me when I call using this adapter. I tested the headset prior to use, and the headset does work.

As I do not need to speak, it works for my needs.

Phone: Nortel Meridian M3902
Headset: Logitech w/built-in volume and mic control

1It plain did not work: I could hear, but not speak  Aug 17, 2011 By randorist
I wanted this to use my existing (working) headset with my Lucent 8410D phone at work. Once installed, I could hear perfectly well, but there was no voice action at all. When I called the company's customer support, once they found out I had ordered through Amazon they said they could do nothing for me. I returned the item through Amazon and my only choice there was to get a refund.

From reading the other reviews, it seems to be a crap shoot to see if the device will work with your phone. I still do not know if the headset was faulty, or my phone is unsupported.

All in all, a very unsatisfactory transaction.

5Fantastic solution to recording calls.  Aug 13, 2010 By Cupidstunt
We have a small Call Centre and wanted to record calls for training purposes. The manufacturer of the telephone system wanted thousands of £££s to install a recorder. This $19 solution with SourceForge's Audacity was a God send. Thank you.

5Works great on Polycom Soundpoint IP Phones  Apr 12, 2012 By Scott W
I see the other reviews that state the ear piece works fine, but the mic does not. I experienced this problem when I purchased the Cisco version of this adapter. Apparently there are two pinouts for the RJ-9 connector. Once I switched to this version of the adapter, people could hear me loud and clear. I confirmed that this adapter works great with the Polycom Soundpoint IP450 and IP550.
